What is a Freshwater Pool?

Chlorine, high salt or minerals and other chemicals used in pools are dangerous for your family and everything else in your backyard too. They destroy your surrounding garden, kill your grass, stain and corrode your paving and furniture. However, the water purified by the NKD-R Freshwater System is so pure you can even use it to water your plants.

Imagine taking a swim in silky smooth fresh water, no horrible chlorine stench burning your nostrils and eyes, not having to lather your kids in special creams or take showers after having a dip. It’s swimming as mother nature intended, pure and simple. As seen on Season 2 of Renovate or Rebuild on Nine and Nine Now:

Renovate or Rebuild Season 2

Cost effective

You will save time and money with fewer chemical

s, reduction in power consumption and the ability to recycle the pool water without dilution.

Gentle on skin

Taking into account one in three Australians have some kind of skin condition (psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis) a freshwater pool is the healthier lifestyle choice for you and your family.

All natural

Using nature’s minerals such as copper and silver ions rather than chlorine, it feels incredible to swim in a pure freshwater pool – a joy that is rare in a world awash with chemicals.

Are you one of the 3.5 million Aussies who suffer asthma or skin allergies?

Many swimming pools have traditionally used hazardous chemicals such as chlorine to minimise algae growth and bacteria. Even saltwater and mineral pools rely on chlorine, and we are all too familiar with the smell and feel from these pools – it irritates skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, can induce asthma attacks and causes harmful reactions in allergy sufferers. Chemicals such as chlorine are hazardous, they’re costly, and they are a hassle. You have to get the quantities precisely right, and the chemicals added regularly, otherwise, you will be looking at a smelly green pool.

We’ve combined our 40 years of industry experience to develop the NKD-R Freshwater Pool System. This technology is used by NASA to clean drinking water and prevent algae growth by utilising copper and silver. What you’re left with is healthy, rejuvenating, crystal clear water that contains less chlorine and chemicals than the water from your household tap.

A freshwater pool can save you 50% on

upkeep costs and you’ll have a bucket load of extra time to relax in your backyard oasis.

Not only are chemicals dangerous and expensive, they make your pool water difficult to maintain – costing you thousands on maintenance. While the initial investment in a Freshwater System may be more expensive than a typical salt chlorinator, it will save you hundreds of dollars a year on upkeep costs due to lower chemical and power consumption. Not to mention, a freshwater pool extends the life of your pool surrounds, equipment and is better for the environment. You will also save water as you can recycle it to your garden and there is no need to shower or wash your swimwear after taking a dip.

You won’t need to drive out to your pool shop every second week to lug back bucket loads of nasty chemicals and bags of salt either. Most importantly, you and your family will have a healthier and safer swimming pool all year round.

Freshwater swimming pools – Don’t you want the latest technology for your new investment?

For the past 30 years most swimming pools have had the ‘Aussie’ invented Salt Chlorinator installed on their pools. For some time, people with a salt-chlorinated pool assumed they were swimming in nothing but salt, where in actual fact the use of that salt (sodium chloride/magnesium chloride) is used to produce chlorine as the residual sanitiser in the pool.

The NKD-R Freshwater Pool System is the latest digital technology that delivers water so fresh you can drink it. It combines two very traditional methods of sanitisation being oxidisation and ionisation (copper/silver), a process even used by NASA for drinking water in space. Although the methods for treating the pool are not new, the way the NKD-R Freshwater System is designed, digitally controlled and customised to your specific pool delivers the highest quality water with minimal chemicals and maintenance.

We all want the latest technology, in our cars, in our phones, computers and why not put it on your new or existing swimming pool?

Is my freshwater pool chlorine free?

Some freshwater pool systems are marketed as being completely chlorin

e free. The only true chlorine free pool is a natural pool. These pools utilise plant life in the water and require a lot of real estate and are very expensive to build. While popular in parts of Europe, the fact is that natural pools are not effective in Australia or other climates where the weather is warm or humid. They also fall down during heavy use. Natural pools or other pools that do not have some form of oxidisation (typically chlorine) are not able to break down organic matter such as dust, dirt, sunscreen or body fats and oils.

The hybrid NKD-R Freshwater System is made up of a digital control unit which supplies and manages current to the electrode assembly (OXI & ION Cell). Electrolysis passes through the copper and silver anodes, releasing the ions into the water. The silver disinfects the water controlling bacteria and the copper prevents algae growth. The minerals left in the water form a residual that continues to sanitise the water. It is not affected by UV or heat like traditional sanitisers. Not only does this mean you do not have to add additional chemicals such as stabiliser or clarifiers, but the continuous effects of the minerals mean that you can run the system for half the time of traditional sanitisers.

In addition, oxidisation is used as water passes over the oxidising plates producing small, untraceable amounts of chlorine ensuring organic matter (dust, dirt, oils and body fats) and other contaminates are eliminated from the water.

The result is safe, crystal clear fresh water that is an absolute joy to swim in.
