Mineral pools are heavily marketed as being a natural, healthy alternative due to their use of magnesium and potassium salts. However, these chemicals are still used to produce chlorine as the main sanitiser and require exactly the same additional chemicals that chlorine and salt-chlorinated pools require.

Perfect for asthmatics, psoriasis and eczema

Up to 50% savings on running costs

Good for surrounding plants and garden

Won’t damage outdoor furniture near the pool

No need to wash swimwear or shower afterwards

Less maintenance due to reduction in chemicals

No red eyes or irritated skin

Lowest levels of TDS

Like household tapwater

Able to add magnesium and potassium

No need for expensive, ongoing bags of mineral salts

• Marketing says must be diluted by at least 5 parts before using on garden
• Gentler on skin but chlorine can still irritate skin, hair and eyes
The difference is clear.
A number of different types of pool systems have popped up over the last ten years. From original chlorine followed by salt-chlorination, to
mineral-based and eventually – freshwater.
Very clever marketing has presented the option of ‘mineral’ pools as good for your health, promoting the benefits of magnesium and
potassium as natural sanitisers. However the fact remains that a mineral pool is still a ‘chlorine’ pool because it requires all the same
associated chemicals as a salt-chlorinated pool system.
Another mineral pool trend is to add either an Ozone or UV system to the mineral pool, intended to try and reduce the chlorine demand of
the mineral pool system itself. While these additional systems are extremely powerful killers of bacteria, they can only treat water as it
passes through the unit so you still need a residual sanitiser to remain in the pool water, and that sanitiser is – you guessed it – chlorine.
The NKD-R Freshwater System on the other hand, uses natural minerals similar to those that come from a natural spring. These minerals,
namely copper and silver, remain in the water as the residual santiser so that no additional chlorine is needed. Basically the end result is
water similar to that from your household tap.
The NKD-R Freshwater System also utilises natural minerals like magnesium and potassium. But with 80% less salt and other additives
required than mineral systems, it’s simply a lot better for you. And because it doesn’t need to be diluted for re-use in your garden like
mineral pool water does, it’s better for the environment too. In fact, builders are now finding that plants placed directly within the overflow
edges of infinity pools that use freshwater systems are actually thriving.
